For some reason I voluntered to help out with [livejournal.com profile] tax's art project.

[livejournal.com profile] mhw and I caught the bus into town and joined [livejournal.com profile] eliaalariel and [livejournal.com profile] tax in Coffee RepublicStarbucks.

There I was provided with a soldier's uniform consisting of DPM combats, a shirt and a big metal helmet. (Liam was aldready in uniform). He and I consumed our drinks and I tried not to feel a fool. It was most comedic. We then went on to several other inluding a travel agent. We also found some anti war protestors so had photos of us signing the petition :-)

The cunts at M&S and Toy's 'R' Us wouldn't allow photos. The latter one would have been especially amusing with photos of us playing with toy guns :-)

I'll consider making photos available later, but I really do look a fool so probably not.

Liam and Frances went home, so Kay and I went to get food. We decided to go to Wagamamamama's - and once again I bumped into someone I knew from Poptastic.

Having eaten we then wandered around Urbis, the city-themed museum. Annoyingly one of the exhibits I wanted to see was out of action (the one of the different smaller communities within Manchester), but the rest of it was enjoyable.

I seem to be good at injuring my right thumb:
About 3 years ago I closed it in a leatherman, taking of the pad of my thumb, so the size of almost a 5p piece.

Last May, I cut my thumb open on a bottle.

And the latest? Well, I don't quite know what happened this time. For maybe the past week, just that thumb (and no other fingers on that hand) had an area of skin which had dried out. In the cold earlier in the afternoon I was putting something into the pocket of the combats, and caught my thumb. It split open - barely a mm deep but a good* 1cm long.

The dry skin could be dermatitis or something - my hands used to be so bad that the skin was bleeding and raw and constantly splitting and they had to be bandaged up. Wash it with aqueous cream and try and keep it moisturised with something that's hypoallergenic and pH neutral, hopefully that should help.

E45 cream (available at any chemists and the appropriate depts of supemarkets) is really good for things like that, even for mild cases of psoriasis. It has all the qualities you describe, is quickly absorbed and doesn't smell. It tastes bad, though, I mistook it for toothpaste once... ;o)
I have similar problems with my left thumb and forefinger, coming and going but two or three applications (about each hour), and the skin is soft and supple again.

Scar tissue can get dry and fragile really easily. Make sure this new split heals as cleanly as possible, and use a good moisturiser after that to keep the skin supple.
