My brother visited this afternoon with his girlfriend. We spent a lovely few hours shopping around town. I got a new stud for my lip piercing - I'd provide a picture but my webcam won't produce a high enough quality picture without being 2cm from my face. I'll save you from the close-up.

He also brought up Christmas(!) presents from people that I haven't been able to see over the holiday season.

We went to the cinema to watch "Runaway Jury", but I was called out as I was going in and I couldn't fix it remotely. When I arrived I found out that it had been fixed by someone else. Annoyingly my brother was also called out for his own work-related reasons so was unable to stay the night. Anyway, after all that hassle we went out for a curry and came back to the flat for an hour or so, people-watching.

I went to the cinema yesterday evening with [livejournal.com profile] ninadellenne and [livejournal.com profile] eternaldancer to see Wrong Turn. It was a horror flick with a sadly predictable ending. Enjoyable though, and made me jump on a number of occasions. It's been far too long since I last went to the cinema.

I have watched a load of films though, I've been watching loads of [livejournal.com profile] dineleeeee's and [livejournal.com profile] softfruits stuff in the absence of my net connection.

Tonight I watched 2 films back to back: Equilibrium which was apparantly shot on a minute budget and The Virgin Suicides which has a fantastic sound track. There are worse ways to fill time, I suppose.

I'vwe been playing loads of chess with [livejournal.com profile] choric and his dad this holiday. The last time I played must've been at least 12-18 months ago. The current score is 5+1/2 to 2+1/2 (to him), so I'm not doing too badly, though it does mean I'm not crap *g*

Saw the film "A beautiful Mind" at the cinema, in English of course ;-) . It was very moving. I'd heard mixed reviews, so I was not sure about going, but I'm glad I went.

We were going to go to the Cornerhouse, but they had sold out of what we were going to see, so we went to the Printworks instead and saw The Mothman Prophecies. It was an entertaining film, but a bit of a horror. There was very little strong laguage/violence/sex in it, so it was only a 12. I feel it warranted a higher rating; I don't know any 12 year olds I'd be happy to see a film of that nature. Ended up back at John's house and we reminisced about last BiCon. I'm already getting excited about this year's.

From Hell

I went to the cinema with [livejournal.com profile] sanjibabes and saw From Hell. It's about Jack the Ripper. I never really knew what he did, just that he was a criminal in the late 1800s. It wasn't particularly scary, just harrowing and gruesome. I miss going to the cinema; I used to go all the time, but work long hours so I'm quite often tired in the evenings.
