It seems I've been using Twitter in place of writing here in recent times. Here's a selection of what I've been up to.

Last weekend I went to Manchester for a birthday party and to see [livejournal.com profile] msbhayvn. Though driving up gives flexibility in when to leave (and return), I find motorway travelling quite tiring, even as a passenger. Well, that, and it takes an age.

Self-directed maths learning is going well. I've mentioned on occasion the puzzle site (projecteuler.net) that I saw a year or so ago which caused me to be motivated enough to start learning a bit more. Anyway, the Saturnday night of last weekend I solved my 99th and 100th puzzles. Current areas of research are Ramsey Theory, combinatorials, and Diophantine equations.

On Wednesday I went to the dentist. I've had an occasional toothache for a while now and so decided it was time I sought help. Turns out that some treatment I had when living in Manchester wasn't done well and it's failing and become infected. I've got some strong antibiotics and some work scheduled in a couple of weeks. 200 quid :-(

Thursday evening I went out for drinks with [livejournal.com profile] saucy_goth who I met at Reptile a couple of months ago. As much as I like owning a place, it is a bit far out from town making it hard to socialise at short notice, so it's great to have someone relatively local with whom I get on well.

Friday night I was going to give some private Linux tuition but the guy cancelled. I was pondering going bellringing but dropped plans at the last minute to help a friend in distress, and we ended up going for sushi and cabaret. The cabaret was really quite awesome. One of the acts in particular
cut for the sqeamish ) I think the audience were unprepared, judging by reactions. (Other acts did not have the kink aspect, so I think they were lulled into a false sense of security). By a weird coincidence the place we went to took us past where I would have been ringing.

Yesterday I went to Borough Market for the first time ever. It's hard to believe that I've been living in London for something like 4 years and never managed to make it. I'm glad I did. I acquired some lovely chilli hot chocolate and some chilli chutney. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] _onlysmarties__ for the suggestion.

last night I went out to a charity quiz which was raising money for the Cats Protection League. It raised in excess of 650 pounds. Plus I enquired about housing one. I keep mentioning it but have decided that I'm ready for it. Hopefully by writing I'm committing myself!

Today was bellringing in Hampstead, and I was in charge, covering for the regular person who was away. It was a good session; I do so much enjoy being able to

Tonight I am off out to the Pembury Tavern, having not been there since Jan 1st. I shall be leaving once laundry is done. Who else is going to be there this evening?

Huh, typical. Not that I'm complaining...Just as I start applying for jobs, Project Flying starts to take off. I'm still going to be looking for work but I have just had a call from my GP saying that the PCT have agreed to fund the referral, and hence the appointment will be made and I'll hear from them soon with an appointment date (which probably won't be for a few weeks). So I'm still considering a private appointment. I'll call them and ask about the possibilities once I have the details.

She has also written me a "it's not affected him for >25 years" style letter for the second medical issue (which hasn't affected me since I was 5, but I still needed to declare it). Once I receive that I shall forward it to the CAA.

Despite the fact that this second issue is smaller, it was the one I was more worried about because it was so long ago and I wasn't sure about what documentation would be available. But my GP said that the fact that it no longer required treatments and that I'd not no episodes for 2-plus decades should be sufficient.

I'm sure I started writing this post but I can't find it so I evidently didn't finish it. I went out to a club with [livejournal.com profile] tef a few weeks ago. Thinking about it, this was probably ythe first time I've been clubbing since WGW in October. That certainly explains why a number of people have said that they've not seen me for a while. I plan to remedy this - I keep fell my stamina decaying - probably through lack of practice. I've started walking more rather than getting the bus too. I've never been one for doing exercise for the sake of it, but I have started caring more. I'm in mostly good shape now, but still get out of breath even after a short sprint for the bus. I've decided that I want to improve (and maintain) this, because keeping it is much more easy than re-gaining it once lost. The apathy to actually act is strong though :-)

As well as clubs, there are a number of gigs coming up that I'm hoping to go to. The two most soon are Levellers (April 25th, London Forum) and Camera Obscura(23rd April, Shepherds Bush Empire). Does anyone fancy joining me for either?

As the Levellers coincides with WGW, I'll not actually be going this spring. It was a tough decision, but it'll also mean I can keep the holiday time. I want to time time off for some training courses so have decided to make an exception this time around.

Far too late for my liking, and bed beacons. G'night, world!

I managed to acquire lurghy of some description whilst working at the shelter over the Christmas period, and ended up going straight to bed when I got home from officejob on Monday. I slept pretty much the entire time until 5am this morning.

Last minute plans take me to Cambridge to see [livejournal.com profile] robin_bloke. Leaving somewhat later than I'd intended. Oops.

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Knitted an item of clothing (end of August 2007) - it was a hat. I've not worn it since; instead I've made better ones - using higher quality yarn and in stripes.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't make any. I won't make any more (until November).I'm doing the 101 tasks in 1001 days thing, and my current set expires then.

I've made several posts about the growth on my leg, and I had a thought last night that I should create a handy reference for them all. I'll update this post as I write more posts and also add this too my userinfo, memories and the top of my journal page so that it can easily be found.

October 2003: I finally decide to do something about the growth on my leg. As it happens my usual doctor wasn't available and I (perhaps foolishly) didn't get around until doing anything until the following April.

April 2004: registered with a GP here in Manchester and had an appt shortly afterwards. She referred me to a dermatologist.

June 2004 : Saw the dermatologist who referred me for an MRI scan

July 2004: Had the MRI scan

August 2004: Got the results of the scan. Was referred to see another specialist and also to discuss surgery options.

September 2004: Met that guy. Was referred for a PET scan. Later in the month received a phonecall from a Channel 4 documentary maker who would like to use me as a
subject, and met him and had a productive talk.

October 2004: Got the date for the PET scan and finalised arrangements for the pre-scan filming.
Had an evening of filming and went for the scan. Got results; it's being dealt with.

Bleh. I think I'm getting a cold or something. I was feeling a bit ill yesterday, but today I'm all congested and feeling a bit achey. I can tell this is going to be a slow day. A least it's quiet though (for now, at least ;-)...

hmmm

My eye's still a bit itchy and bloodshot. I'll give it one more day then go and see someone about it. I first noticed it on Sunday, but I've got a pretty good immune system, so I'm prepared to be patient.
