Friday was the work Christmas party. People were getting very drunk; I left the time that people started doing lapdances for each other! I didn't take any photos, but I know there are some somewhere. (None of me, I'm glad to say). I went to Aldgate to go bellringing to hide from the debauchery.

Saturday:
Afternoon I went ringing at Westminster. I don't often get nervous when ringing, but the prestige of them is enough to unsettle me a little.
Last in the evening I went round to see [livejournal.com profile] snork_maiden who I'd not seen for far too long and we headed out to spiral scratch. A great little place, in a pub just off Charing Cross road. I keep forgetting when it's on, but have enjoyed it each time I've gone.

Sunday:
A day I'll not forget for a long time. It was the first Sunday service ringing at Edgware since I started training the band. Such a proud moment, and it went really well.

In the afternoon there was more bellringing at Hackney and Islington, and then I went back to Hackney for drinks in the Pembury Tavern. A fantastic evening, and was great to catch up with people (especially those like [livejournal.com profile] missyk8 who I'd not seen for ages). Got the bus to KX with S. and even arrived in time for the last tube home \o/

Sorry about the awful pun in the title. I have a reputation to upkeep, being a maintainer of [livejournal.com profile] pisspoorhumour.

Tuesday brought a contrasting journey to work compared to that of [livejournal.com profile] hauntedunix.

Got as seat on the tube, as is typical for most mornings living to close to the terminus. This is great, because it gives me loads of time for knitting. Somewhere around Brent Cross a person standing next to me speaks to me about knitting. Strangely this isn't all that uncommon; for some reason people see a guy knitting on the tube and think it safe to talk to me. Turns out she's a knitter too, but doesn't know many other socially so I give her a few details of local knitting groups and shops and she's thankful. I also demonstrated the magic loop method, as I'm using it for the socks I'm knitting and she'd not understood it before.
As she alighted at Camden, I almost wish I'd passed on contact details but that might also seem a bit creepy.

I idly ponder the offchance of seeing a note in the "ZOMG! I met someone on the bus/train/tube but didn't get their number" section of the local rags. Haven't seen anything so far though.

On a loosely connected theme, the encounter ties in with a post
brought to my attention by proxy of [livejournal.com profile] doseybat. Summary: how did you meet current partners, how do you meet future ones, differences between what's meant by "dating" here in the UK vs. in the US.
