Social plans for the remainder of the week:

Wednesday (tonight): Meet Sam <(linuxs1) for a drink in The Footage at 7pm. If anyone else facies joining us then you're welcome to turn up. stumpy_thedwarf - you're in Manchester still IIRC?

Thursday: Juggler's soc. at Squirrels Bar. There's talk of going to see the clock on the uni precinct centre bridge count down to zero; that's due to happen at midnight. Will it display negative numbers, will it wrap around to 99 days, will there be some cool display hack or will it just stop at zero and be shit and boring? Come along and we'll find out.
Friday: evening drinks in Big Hands.

The story of my tumour

I've made several posts about the growth on my leg, and I had a thought last night that I should create a handy reference for them all. I'll update this post as I write more posts and also add this too my userinfo, memories and the top of my journal page so that it can easily be found.

October 2003: I finally decide to do something about the growth on my leg. As it happens my usual doctor wasn't available and I (perhaps foolishly) didn't get around until doing anything until the following April.

April 2004: registered with a GP here in Manchester and had an appt shortly afterwards. She referred me to a dermatologist.

June 2004 : Saw the dermatologist who referred me for an MRI scan

July 2004: Had the MRI scan

August 2004: Got the results of the scan. Was referred to see another specialist and also to discuss surgery options.

September 2004: Met that guy. Was referred for a PET scan. Later in the month received a phonecall from a Channel 4 documentary maker who would like to use me as a
subject, and met him and had a productive talk.

October 2004: Got the date for the PET scan and finalised arrangements for the pre-scan filming.
Had an evening of filming and went for the scan. Got results; it's being dealt with.

We met in The Footage (wow. That's the third time in a week that I've been there) and spoke for something like 3 hours. There will be 3 or 4 subjects total and the general topic is "cancer and growths".

They want to film a mini interview before, during and after the PET scan (with a bit of focus on the procedure itself) and also to show that it is possible to lead a semi-normal life, that it's not all doom and gloom. He thinks that I'll be an excellent role model.

They'd also like to film me doing what I normally do, so a possible pub or club scene. The pubs we're looking at are Taurus on Canal Street, Kro 3 (Pencroft way) or the Ducie Arms (on Cambridge Street). Would any of you be willing to appear with me? I'll also see if I can get a shot of LiveJournal in the background :-)

Once I get the appointment through for the PET scan I'll get back to him and the first interview-y bit can go ahead. It's a bit intimidating, but I'm generally happy and excited about it.

We finished up with a meal at The Dutch Pancake house. Yay for free food :-)
