I got the bus into town today just to get out the flat and bumped into
dineleeeee and
scrumpyncheese. They were off to New Mills for the annual september festival thingy. I don't know much about it, but went along anyway because it was an open invite and I wanted to be sociable. I'd not left Manchester for a while; I'd almost forgotten what green field and hills are. Such lovely scenery and I'm looking forward to moving to Heaton Chapel in a just over a week. Back to the thread...
We were met by a friend of Sam's (from school) called Simon and then wandered over to someone else's house (I'm so crap with names) to pick up the rest of our group. The event was a lantern-lit trail where there were garden torches, oil lamps and along a very picturesque path and home-made lanterns carried by some of the people. At the end there was a fireworks display and it was great fun.
Train back and we managed to persuade
dineleeeee to
make a phone post.

The first picture requires a bit of explanation. We'd popped into Sainsbury's to get a snack before setting off, but I'd forgotten to pick up a spork. I improvised by folding the lid. T'was nothing special; it just amused us at the time.
