1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
A sad realisation, perhaps, but I don't think there is anything.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I'm not usually one to make resolutions. I tend to set goals for myself throughout the year, not just at the new year. Biting my nails is something I've been trying to give up for years, but I've still not managed it.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I know people who've given birth but noone with whom I spend a large proportion of my time.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit?
Germany.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
A couple of events at BiCon (Hmm. I never got around to doing a writeup for that...) because they allow me to see how much more confident I've become.
I can't remember the date off hand but it was the party at 's place in the summer. Mainly because it's where I met so many great people.

8. What was your biggest achievement of this year?
Overcoming some of my inhibitions.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Drinking - in particular that binge back in September.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major. Slightly prolonged back-related injuries from the Levellers gig two weeks ago, but that's by-and-large healed. Had me a little bit concerned though.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new hifi amp. Not particularly powerful, but a lovely crisp sound.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
All of you, in some way or another. I love you all. You make me who I am.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Two very close contenders:
Exhousemate, G
, and

my mum's
.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Since August, on rent. Before then, on CDs.

15. What did you get really, really excited about?
BiCon, in the summer.
Moving into this flat.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2003?
A Perfect Cirle - The Nurse Who Loved Me

17. Compared to this time last year,
i. are you happier or sadder?
More extremes of each. Generally happier, I'd say. (Except for a little wibble in May-ish, and again in October-ish)
ii. thinner or fatter
A bit thinner, perhaps. Not much of a change.
iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer, and less stable:-(

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spent more time with family and friends, and those special people.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Nothing comes to mind. I'm not really a person of regrets.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Working.

21. This question got lost somewhere

22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
Love, no. Lust, yes :-) I'll not name them as I've not told them and that might embarrass them and me

23. How many one night stands?
"One night stand" - such a horrible phrase. "Enjoyed intimacy, of varying levels, with a non-long-term partner".
3. It's most unlike the me, but I don't regret it.

24. What was your favourite TV programme?
I'm not a big TV fan. ST:TNG has always rated highly IMO.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
See 13. M's brother G.

26. What was the best book you read?
I don't think I've read any fiction this year. Gang War by Peter Walsh was quite interesting.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The DarknessA Perfect Circle.

28. What did you want and get?
To not live with G. anymore.

29. What did you want and not get?
To form a geek household.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Phonebooth.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Worked and went to [livejournal.com profile] jilly's I think. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/matthewp/2003/07/24/) Yep.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Had the house not been sold, but G(and M) moved out to be replaced by friend of a geek bent.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
Unchanged. Uncaring.

34. What kept you sane?
Communicating. [livejournal.com profile] softfruit, [livejournal.com profile] mhw, [livejournal.com profile] revraven in particular.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmm. This'll be a forced decision, if any. I much prefer to know the person also. Noone comes to mind.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The war.

37. Who did you miss?
Helen. Martin.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
So many contenders. [livejournal.com profile] fruit_boy, I'd say.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003
People are more understanding and receptive than you may at first give them credit for.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year
Just because I don't say anything doesn't mean I don't like you. -- Nothing Came Out by the Moldy Peaches
A few of you mean so much to me, and yet I don't have the confidence to say anything. I'm working on that though.
