When I lived in Fallowfield I used to go bellringing lots, as the church was literally a few minutes walk from
the flat. When I moved to Heaton Chapel I got a new job - this is the one which required me to drive circa 1000 miles per week. If I was home in the evening I'd invariably be tired or not have eaten, or both. and as such I realistically had to forgo ringing. It was a shame because I enjoyed it so much.
When I moved to London, my old uni mate
mrk encouraged me to come along to a church near his place which, due to his sterling fund-raising efforts, just a couple of months prior, had a new peal installed. Hampstead, then, has become my local tower.
Much of the band there is new, and it's been fabulous to see them progress in leaps and bounds. Last wednesday though, we had a group of visitors from a neighbouring tower and this meant we could ring some more advanced stuff. Fired out the first lot of stedman, but a second attempt was flawless. I don't resent helping the learners in the least, but that night rekindled my interest.

My reason for
bemoaning my lack of sleep on Friday night is that
mrk and I were heading over to Gloucester at 7am for a 9-whever arrival for a day of ringing at some local towers in the area.
Annoyingly I've left the list of towers I visited at
mrk's place so I can't provide details here (though they won't be of interest except to the 2 ringers (that I know of) who are on my flist). Seriously knackered by the end of the day and got back around 9pm ish, had a bite to eat and went straight to bed.
