Nov. 5th, 2007 08:59 amForgot to say in my last entry. Thank you for asking about me after my mini hiatus. This weekend was pretty mad. I miss the hedonism, in a way.
Friday night started off with the carter usm gig, and it was great to see
nearlyeveryone there.
There were 2 songs I couldn't identify. I'll update with the setlist later.
I was really quite disappointed that they didn't play anything from the world without dave album.
Like many of us, I strongly link music to past periods and events. Carter usm remind me very much of the mid 90s, as that's when I got into them. (sadly the tail end of their career, until this comeback, but I did get to see them twice). That's the time when I was partyway through college and beginning to form social circles. There were a couple of notable exeptions, but I generally didn't enjoy school and came away with very few friends. I don't associate it in a lamentful way, but more the liberation that college allowed me to make.
Later that evening a few of us decamped to south london for the housewarming party. This was excellent fun, even if I did only get less than 4 hours sleep, from 5am :-) woke up at 9 from the corner in whbich I'd crashed and carried on partying.
Left at 2pm, headed home, changed, ate, and headed out again. Stay beautiful was the event in question. To the indie kids on my flist, I must take you along sometime. Admittedly I was too tired to enjoy it fully but it was still a great night nonetheless.
(thank you cybermuppet for providing such an "entertaining" sideshow ;-) got home at 4am. The walk home from the bus stop was bizarre, but typical of the saturday closest to bonfire night: smoke hanging in the air, smell of spent explosives and the occasional bit of debris.
Sunday: woke up at 10 and decided that I was too tired to make it to church for sunday ringing. Went back to sleep again and woke at midday. Later in the afternoon I went out for nye's unbirthday party at pendrel's oak in holborn. Was a quiet fun afternoon spent chatting and playing games.
Got back home around 10 and caught up with people online.
