Weekend

It's great having the weekends free to do things. I forgot how much I valued them.
Friday night I was planning to go to [livejournal.com profile] bethanthepurple's halloween party. As I was packing the car, my sister phonedme for a chat and I mentioned that I was going to Birmingham. She too lives there and also happened to be having a party that night. So I got a extra crate of beer for her too. (This was of the many crates that I wonfrom the Cow Parade.)

I left around 7 or so and therefore arrived at 9-something. Would liked to have spoken with my sister a bit more, but she was busy with friends. She'll be visiting Manchester this coming weekend, so we can catch up then. I stayed a bit to be sociable and then headed off to see [livejournal.com profile] bethanthepurple and co. Such a lovely group of people. I was a bit apprehensive about going but was soon made to feel welcome by all. Why is it that the cute guys are always straight? *pout*.

Saturday wasPolyDay in Leicester and was absolutely great. The concept of defragging one's timetable to make larger contiguous blocks of avaiable time was invented. On the serious side though, I went away having learned a great deal and it wasa thoroughly enjoyable event. A big thanks to Grant for all your hard work, and it was good to meet loads of new people. There's already talk of organising another one. Just what we like to see. (Thanks for your advice, Eirwen. I wasn't sure if I could raise the issue with you)

Saturday evening I drove to London. I don't know why I was so angsty about it; the hard part was finding exactly where on the street the house party was. The flat was an old church and was a beautiful building. I wasincredibly jittery when I first arrived. I was tired from all the driving and surviving on redbull. Yes, RedBull which I gave up a year ago. I hate the effect taurine has, I don't know why I do it to myself. It took me about an hour or so to relax enough to be able to speak to people but thereafter I had a great time. It was a momentary lapse; I'll not drink redbull again.

Spoke in depth about music and geekery and tried to stay away from the political discussions. (I generally dislike talking politics with people I don't know well as tension fromconflicting agreement can build up to easily.) There was even a small amount of LJ-spodding, but I've begun to expect that at parties these day ;-) Tragic, the life I lead.

Sunday - woke around 12pm and tidied the flat a little, then went across the road to get breakfast. Had a lovely rich meatball tagliatelle.
Came back and spoke a bit more about music, and left somewhere around 2pm.

Hmm, I like this userpic, but I've since aged a bit. Does anyone have any more decent recently-takenphotos of me? Speaking of photos,I don't have any of the weekend because my flash card shit itself a while ago and I've not got a replacement. Does anyone have any photos of the weekend in general?

Had to go home via Birmingham as my sister had left her phone in my car earlier in the weekend. Wasa good evening though; we spent about 2 hours in the pub before I headed off for Manchester. I got home around 11pm and had clocked up a total of 550 miles by the end of the weekend. Chatted online for a short while and then collapsed into bed.
