Manchester's busy at the moment
Oct. 25th, 2002 04:00 pmWe've been having a earthquake swarm (as it's known to geologists) recently - ranging from 2.something to 4.something. I decided to not jump on the bandwagon when it started on monday - but since it's carried on and other stuff is happening besides, I've decided to write about it. It's been mildly exciting - on wednesday there was an office sweepstake as to who can predict the strength of the next tremor.
Details at http://www.quakes.bgs.ac.uk/recbrit.html, http://www.quakes.bgs.ac.uk/manchester_info.htm and http://www.earth.man.ac.uk/earthquake.php, amongst other places.
In Salford, North of Manchester, some telco lines were damaged due to Arson. Luckily we weren't affected, but other Manchester ISPs weren't so lucky.
Lastly, a crane was struck by lightning behind Piccadilly Station. I can't find any reports on that though.
