Last night I had a realisation. There's a section in the Chop Waltz (a.k.a. Chopsticks) that sounds like the mario theme tune? Midi at http://mat.tp/2006/0425/chopwaltz.mid if you need it. The section in question is 01:30 — 02:06. I think it bears resemeblance to the speeded up bit at the end of the level.
