Clubbing (and past few days)
Jun. 13th, 2004 08:13 pmThursay was Froo's birthday and drink and food was consumed at The Moon Under Water in town. Was great to see eveyone again, especially those who less regularly make an appearance.
Later on a few of us went to
jillys. It was probably
gyre's last visit before he returns home, though I have heard rumours he'll be around briefly at the start of July. Last time we met, my ex-housemate Helen said she may start working in the bar at Jilly's. I've not seen her there so I guess that's not the case. Note to self: phone her re Tuesday evening
Got home and finished reading The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night-time. This may come as a surprise to those who know that I rarely read fiction. It's a very touching story, and was close to making me cry at several points.
I think the last fiction book I read was during GCSE years. I've read some biographical works since (the one which comes to mind is In Code which I read during Easter 2002 in Hungary) and then there's my usual litery diet of dictionaries and reference books (O'Reilly being my favourite.)
Friday was fairly non-descript.
Saturday - worked 9-5. Felt like having Fish'n'cips for lunch but the first 4 I went to were closed and I was running out of time. Settled for a burger instead. Why are most fast food places open all through the day, with the exception of fish'n'chips places? Decided that I might go to 5th Ave in the evening and then I saw this post and decided that I definitely would go.
Re-heated some left over dinner frozen from the other night and headed out at the rather late time 0f 2300. Arrived around half-past ish.. I'm growing to like that place even more. They played the Beach Boys! Wooo. I might have to see if I can find a CD of theirs I have kicking around somewhere.
The club have a lateopening which great; we left as it was getting light and spent an hour like vagrants by the 24 hour shop talking with a couple of randoms who were a bit crude at times but harmless and comical. We eventually left for home at enarly 4am, getting a taxi because it was during that annoying 2-3 hour window where the buses aren't running.
Had a long lie-in until 2-something, and have been doing random Python-related geeky stuff since.
