Yesterday I went into town to have a meeting with the bank (just an annual review thingy) and then went for a wander around the markets. I found a very nice chilli marmalade, much like the one I bought in Gloucester in February. I'd like to learn how to make jams/marmalades at some stage. I also got a couple of pairs of knitting needles as I don't have the right sizes for the sweater I'm making.

Afternoon was a BBQ with

angeoverhere, J. and

softfruit. I ate a massive amount, as is typical for me at barbeque, then in the evening we watched Team America. That film has one of the best quotes ever. See the first one.

Lazy day today. I forgot to set an alarm, so only woke up about an hour ago. Hopefully this hasn't altered my sleep cycle too much.

Pondering going somewhere today but not sure where or to do what. It's quite hot to be outside.
Is anyone interested in going to see the Jodrell Bank telescope?

"Do you have any idea how fucking busy I am?"

Our dad makes marmalade a lot. He also knows how to make jam. He got the recipe from his mum and so eventually I hope to learn how to make it myself.

When I get my arse in gear and learn, I'll tell you how to make it.

From what I've gathered so far, it involves a big metal basin and lots of sugar and you have to be careful not to put your hand in it when it's heating because then you cry.

You could both try this, if you wanted to learn how to make marmalade.

memory category to aid finding recipes I've encountered.

One of these days I'll collate them and put them into a seperate website. i've been meaning to do that for a while now.

Jams get hot very quickly. When I was at uni, one of the residents at my hall had a guest who, in an inebriated state, put a put of jam in the microwave. For 30-something minutes. Then someone went into the kitchen which let out a load of smoke and set the fire alarm off. Thankfully the fire was dealt with though.

It's so nice getting someone to watch a film that you just *know* they're going to like... ;-)

BTW, did jen say anything to you about birthday/housewarming party type plots?

Not yet, no. I did have plans to be camping in Derbyshire, but nothing is finalised yet.

Saturday 24th July... That's my birthday itself. I should be around for that. I don't yet know where I'm working on the 23rd, so can't decide about Jilly's yet.
